Nearly half a year after erecting a project billboard with no physical activity on site, the Ogun State Government has finally commenced practical reconstruction efforts on the neglected Agbado-Ijoko thoroughfare.

The deployment of construction equipment follows repeated public scrutiny regarding the state of the corridor, which has been in ruins for roughly a decade. Oluwadamilola Fijabi, a community resident, confirmed observing earthmovers actively leveling the ground near the Lateef Jakande Train Station in Agbado.

According to Fijabi, earthwork kicked off around mid-October. Although intermittent rain showers briefly disrupted operations, construction crews have resumed grading the roadbed in readiness for subsequent paving layers.

The prolonged absence of activity following the signboard’s appearance in April had previously drawn sharp criticism from locals, many of whom dismissed the initial announcement as mere political posturing ahead of the 2027 election cycle.

Handled by Craneburg Construction under the supervision of the Ogun State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, the rehabilitation effort is intended to span the extensive Sango-Ijoko-Agbado-Akute corridor. Although the posted notice specifies an 18-month delivery window, ambiguity remains over whether the countdown began when the sign was erected in April or when physical operations officially commenced in October.
