Nigeria’s federal administration has pledged comprehensive backing to both the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) and the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management as the nation prepares to stage the 2026 World Public Relations Forum (WPRF) in Abuja.

Mohammed Idris, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, confirmed the government’s total commitment on Thursday during a strategic meeting with NIPR Council President Dr. Ike Neliaku and Global Alliance President/CEO Prof. Justin Green.

Idris noted that arrangements are already in motion, underscoring that authorities will spare no effort to surpass benchmarks and leverage the global gathering to highlight Nigeria’s organizational competence, cultural hospitality, and continental prominence.

According to Dr. Neliaku, Nigeria officially launched its campaign to host the premier event during the 2024 forum in Bali, Indonesia, rapidly securing solid backing from the federal authorities.

Commending the Nigerian leadership, Prof. Green noted that state support has been instrumental in turning the bid into reality. He revealed that over 3,000 communications specialists from 126 nations are slated to convene in Abuja, offering the country an unprecedented platform to share its authentic story with the world.

Anchored around the theme “Responsible Communication: The Voice of the World,” the flagship event is scheduled for November 15–21, 2026, running concurrently with the 37th African Public Relations Association (APRA) Conference. The summit will culminate in the unveiling of the “Abuja Declaration,” a landmark charter aimed at defining future ethical benchmarks for the public relations profession.
