Biblical Ninja: Be Strong, for I Am With You

A Letter to the Saints Who Stand in the Name of the Lord

Grace and peace be multiplied unto you from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ.

Beloved,

There is a word that echoes through the ages like a trumpet before battle — “Be strong… for I am with you.” When the Lord spoke to Joshua after the passing of Moses, He said:

“Be strong and of a good courage… for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.” — Joshua 1:9

And through the prophet Isaiah, He declared:

“Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee.” — Isaiah 41:10

And again our Lord Jesus, before ascending, comforted His disciples:

“Lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.” — Matthew 28:20

What does this mean? Does God command us to be strong first so that He may then come near? Or is He already with us, and therefore we are enabled to be strong?

Let us reason together in the Spirit.

Strength Is Not the Condition — It Is the Result

God does not say, “Become strong and then I will be with you.” He says, “Be strong, for I am with you.”

The command is rooted in a promise. The strength is born from His presence.

When the Lord stood with Gideon, He called him “mighty man of valor” while Gideon was still hiding in fear (Judges 6:12). Gideon did not feel strong. Yet God’s presence defined his identity before his feelings aligned with it.

So it is with us.

We are not strong in isolation. We are strong because God has drawn near. The Apostle wrote:

“Be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might.” — Ephesians 6:10

Notice carefully: in the Lord, not in yourself.

What Does It Mean to Be Strong?

To be strong, in the mind of Christ, is not to be loud, aggressive, or self-reliant. It is not fleshly toughness. It is not human willpower alone.

Spiritual strength is:

1. Strength of Faith

To believe what God has said above what circumstances declare. As Abraham “staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith” (Romans 4:20).

Strength is trusting God when the visible world disagrees.

2. Strength of Obedience

When Daniel purposed in his heart not to defile himself (Daniel 1:8), he stood strong without violence, without protest — but with resolve.

Strength is quiet obedience under pressure.

3. Strength of Love

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, “but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind” (2 Timothy 1:7).

Love is not weakness. Love is divine power restrained and directed by heaven.

4. Strength of Mind

We are told in 1 Corinthians 2:16 that “we have the mind of Christ.” The mind of Christ does not panic. It does not surrender to fear. It thinks according to eternal reality.

Strength means aligning our thoughts with God’s truth until our inner man stands unshaken.

What Does It Mean That God Is With Us?

When God says, “I am with you,” it is not poetry. It is covenant reality.

From the burning bush to the upper room, God has always revealed Himself as Emmanuel — God with us.

But under the New Covenant, something greater has occurred.

The Holy Spirit does not merely walk beside us; He dwells within us. As Jesus said:

“He dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.” — John 14:17

This means:

  • God’s wisdom is accessible.

  • God’s power is present.

  • God’s comfort is internal.

  • God’s guidance is active.

We do not fight for His presence; we fight from His presence.

The Divine Order: Presence First, Strength Second

Understand this mystery:

God’s presence produces strength.
Strength does not produce God’s presence.

When David faced Goliath, he did not rely on skill alone. He declared, “The Lord that delivered me… He will deliver me.” His courage flowed from covenant.

The Lord was with him — therefore he could stand.

And now, through Christ, that same covenant stands with us.

Doing Things That Be Not As Though They Were

The Apostle wrote that God “calleth those things which be not as though they were” (Romans 4:17).

This is not denial of reality; it is declaration of a higher reality.

Because God is with us:

  • We speak hope in the midst of lack.

  • We declare healing while still pressing forward.

  • We proclaim peace in the storm.

This is not presumption. It is agreement with heaven.

The Mind of Christ: The True Biblical Ninja

A ninja moves unseen, disciplined, focused, unwavering. But the spiritual warrior moves in humility, clothed not in darkness but in light.

To have the mind of Christ is to:

  • Think as He thinks.

  • Respond as He responds.

  • Love as He loves.

  • Endure as He endured.

Jesus Himself said, “I am not alone, because the Father is with Me” (John 16:32).

Even on the cross, though He bore unimaginable weight, His strength came from union with the Father.

If the Son walked in strength because the Father was with Him — how much more we, who are joined to Him by the Spirit?

Therefore, Beloved

Be strong.

Not in pride — but in promise.
Not in ego — but in eternal truth.
Not in noise — but in knowing.

You are not abandoned on this earth. The Spirit of God dwells in you. The power that raised Christ from the dead is at work in you (Romans 8:11).

So when fear whispers, remember:

He is with you.
When weakness trembles, remember:
His strength is made perfect in weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9).

You do not wait to feel strong before you act in faith. You act in faith because He is already present.

Stand firm. Speak life. Walk boldly. Love fiercely. Think clearly.

For God has not commanded you into loneliness —
He has commanded you into courage because He Himself stands within you.

May you know, not merely in doctrine but in living reality, that you carry the presence of the Almighty as you tread upon this earth.

Be strong, for He is with you.
And because He is with you, you are strong.

Grace be with you all. Amen.
