Lere Olayinka, spokesperson to the FCT Minister, Nyeesom Wike, is having a hard time explaining, justifying, and rationalising, the allegations of huge corruption against his boss. Instead of dealing with the issue headlong, he has chosen to engage in foul tactics- scatter shot response with unrelated- and majorly, attractive nonsense.
He started out by accusing Sowere of advocating for the legalization of Marijuana. Dear Lere, I’m also advocating for the same thing. I want it legalized for medicinal and recreational purposes so that the government can earn money from it. It will also help the government and the society keep tabs on those using it illegally and behind the cotton. And to be frank, some of the users are top personalities in the country. Marijuana is not legalized, but are people not using it? How many people have been convicted for using it? Legalize it!
Then, he said Sowore is paying an extraordinarily high school fee for his son in the US and that he makes the money from blackmailing people. Is Lere Olayinka, the spokesperson of Sowere’s “victims” if any? If he knows them, he should advise them to report Sowere to the police because blackmail is a crime under our laws. After all, the government is actively looking for something to nail Sowore. Sowere is a private citizen and a business owner. He does not work for the government and he has the right to enrol his kid in any school and pay whatever he can afford. What makes Lere Olayinka’s boss better than Sowere that he can afford to buy houses abroad, send his kids to the best schools in the world, turn out in the best designer clothes, shoes, and watches, but Sowere can’t do just one of the things he can do? Is it because he is in the government?
Lere Olayinka has got to dig deep and make a convincing argument about how his boss acquired the properties in Florida, USA. Saying his wife and children are US citizens doesn’t explain it. Not all US citizens own property or such properties. The questions are how did his wife and kids make the money to buy them? What did he do to make the money? His salaries as LG Chairman, COS, Minister, Governor, and now minister, cannot buy the properties. His wife cannot buy them too. So Lere should answer these questions and stop beating about the bush.
Nigerians know Sowere already. Calling him a blackmailer and a thief won’t cut it with them. Your boss needs you now more than ever to dig him out in the courts of public opinion because the court of law is in deep sleep.
