Social media was set ablaze after President Donald Trump’s daughter Ivanka Trump took to her Twitter account to felicitate with Muslims all over the world as they celebrate Eid-el-Kabir.
Ivanka’s celebratory message to Muslims recognizing the Islamic holiday went south after social media users reminded her that her father has barred people from Muslim-majority countries from travelling to the US.
She tweeted on Sunday, August 12: “Eid Mubarak to Muslims all around the world celebrating Eid al-Adha, wishing you health, happiness and joy!”
Like the general saying, the internet does not forget things, tweeps immediately pointed to her father’s ban on visitors from Muslim-majority countries.

Though, Ivanaka, who is currently an adviser to her father, the president of the United States, may have meant well with her tweet, many doubted her sentiment and some critics pointed to her father’s 2017 executive order that banned travel from Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen for three months, and indefinitely suspended travel from Syria. All the banned countries have Muslim-majority and have refugee populations of varying sizes.
