MTN has refunded a Lagos-based customer’s N20,000 held for five months.
The money was refunded on August 2, 2023, one week after www.aso.rocks published a story on how the customer’s N20,000 had been with MTN since March.

While notifying www.aso.rocks of the refund via a message last Wednesday, the MTN customer, who wishes to be unnamed, wrote: “I got my money back today. Thanks a lot.”

The customer had earlier told www.aso.rocks that she paid N20,000 for a data subscription with MTN on March 29 but neither received the data nor a refund.
She made a transfer from her PocketApp and it was successful as evidenced by the debit alert she made available to www.aso.rocks.
However, MTN failed to complete the data subscription she initiated. And when she contacted the telecommunications company for a refund, she got nothing but “we are working on it”.

www.aso.rocks subsequently reached out to MTN on July 26, and a customer care representative said the customer would get a response within 24 hours.
Although the MTN customer was not contacted until two days after, the company assured her that she would get her money. And on August 2, the customer told www.aso.rocks that she had been refunded.
