Jim Itoro, a Lagos State-based public servant, has narrated how Dana Air withheld his N103,000 after he was unable to travel with the airline three months earlier.
Itoro told www.aso.rocks that he had hoped to travel with Dana Air from Lagos to Abuja on April 27 but could not do so because of some technical issues encountered by the airline.
“The plane was scheduled to take off at 6.30 am on April 27, and I made sure I made it to the airport before the scheduled take-off time,” Itoro said.
“While waiting to board, an announcement was made that the flight had been rescheduled to 12 pm. I actually had a meeting for that day in Abuja, and I was supposed to return to Lagos on the same day. So, it was a return ticket I booked with Dana Air and it cost N103,000.

“From noon to about 3.30 pm however, the airline would still not convey us to our destination.

“In the end, the flight was cancelled, and we were told by the airline’s officials to proceed to its stand at the airport so we could fill refund forms.”

According to Itoro, the affected passengers returned to Dana Air’s stand at the airport to demand a refund as advised.

“For us to get our refunds, Dana Air officials asked us to fill our details, including our account numbers, on the forms given to us, and we promptly did that,” said Itoro.
“I ended up spending nine hours without flying with the airline on that day. I also ended up missing the important meeting I was supposed to attend in Abuja on the same day.
“The most annoying part is that Dana Air has still not refunded my N103,000 to my account. I have been calling them on the phone repeatedly to get my money back, but nothing concrete has been done to my request by the airline.
“What even got me so upset recently was that one of the officials I spoke with said the airline had been owing some customers since 2022.

“What she was stylishly trying to tell me was that I would have to wait an eternity before getting my money back. Presently, they no longer answer my calls at their customer care desk.”
When www.aso.rocks sent an email to Dana Air’s customer care desk for comments on Friday morning, one of the airline’s officials, who simply identified herself as Abiola, said Itoro’s refund request was being worked on.
“His refund is currently being worked on, and his account would be credited soon,” Abiola wrote.
According to Itoro however, Dana Air is still with the money.
