The event, tagged “Non-sitting Members’ Session,” will hold at the Assembly Complex in Asaba from November 12 – 14.
Guwor disclosed this during Wednesday’s plenary session, describing the plan as a landmark initiative aimed at strengthening legislative collaboration and institutional continuity.
He said the Governor and former Speaker, Sheriff Oborevwori, is expected to attend the session alongside several former Speakers of the Assembly, including Mr Emmanuel Okoro, Mr Kent Omatsone, Mr Martins Okonta, Mr Victor Ochei, and Chief Monday Igbuya.
Others expected are Mr Basil Ganagana, Mr Frank Enekorogha, Mr Peter Onwusanya, and Dr Olise Imegwu.
The Speaker announced a five-member organising committee chaired by the Deputy Speaker, Mr Arthur Akpowowo. Other members include Mr Austin Uroye, Mr Perkins Umukoro, Mr Festus Utuama, and Mrs Bridget Anyafulu, while the Deputy Clerk (Administration), Mr Smart Edoge, will serve as Secretary.
The Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Mr Nkem Nwaeke, described the initiative as innovative and unprecedented in the history of the Assembly.
He said the Speaker’s vision reflects a commitment to inclusivity, unity, and effective legislative governance, adding that the session would promote peace, unity, and institutional memory.
Nwaeke said the engagement would harness the experiences of former lawmakers to strengthen the legislative process and promote sound decision-making.
“The Speaker’s leadership approach demonstrates foresight and dedication to bridging gaps between past and present legislators,” he said, adding that the collaboration would guide policy formulation and improve governance across the state.
