ABUJA – The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has extended the deadline for completing admissions into public universities for the 2025 academic year from Friday, October 31, to Monday, November 17, 2025.
The extension was announced in a statement issued on Monday in Abuja by the Board’s spokesperson, Dr. Fabian Benjamin.
According to Benjamin, the decision followed emergent and compelling circumstances, including a court order that temporarily halted the 2025/2026 admission process, which was only lifted on October 28, 2025.
He also cited the National Universities Commission’s (NUC) release of 229 newly accredited programmes for 37 universities on October 29, 2025, as another reason for the extension.
Benjamin commended the diligence and commitment of public universities that worked toward meeting the initial deadline, which had been set to enable other tiers of tertiary institutions to complete their admissions ahead of the overall closing date of December 31, 2025.
“In light of these developments, and to ensure fairness and inclusiveness, the Board hereby extends the deadline for completion of 2025 public university admissions to Monday, November 17, 2025,” Benjamin stated.
He stressed that the new deadline is final and must be strictly adhered to, assuring that JAMB remains committed to a seamless, transparent, and credible admission process aligned with national education goals and institutional autonomy.
