President & CEO, Nigerians in Diaspora Chamber of Commerce (NiDCC), Patience Ndidi Key, has called for ownership, sense of pride and transformation of Nigeria.
She made this call in a press statement on the commemoration of the 65th anniversary of the Nigeria independence celebration.
“As Nigeria turns 65. It is a day of joy, reflection, and renewed commitment to the growth of our great nation. As we mark this milestone, let us celebrate with a profound sense of ownership and pride. Nigeria belongs to us all—her people at home and abroad—and it is our shared responsibility to transform her into the nation of our dreams.”
Ndidi said despite the challenges, Nigeria remains a land of extraordinary promise with over 220 million people with the largest economy in Africa, vast natural resources, and a cultural identity that commands global respect, adding Nigeria is blessed beyond measure. “God has endowed us with everything that pertains to life and godliness. Our task is to harness these blessings with integrity, vision, and unity.
“At 65, we must see ourselves not as bystanders but as the true owners of Nigeria. We must act deliberately to build a nation that works for all Nigerians—a country where businesses thrive, young people innovate, women lead, and communities prosper. It is not enough to celebrate independence; we must take ownership of our collective future”.
Continuing, Ndidi Key said all things being equal, Nigeria is the greatest country on earth. She further said that what sets nations apart is not the abundance of their resources but the commitment of their citizens to steward those resources for common good.
She noted that if Nigerians embrace pride in the nation’s heritage and take ownership of destiny, responsibility for national transformation, there is no height Nigeria cannot attain.
“As we raise our flags high today, let us commit to building a nation that reflects the greatness within us. Let us choose unity over division, service over self-interest, and progress over stagnation. The Nigeria we desire is within our reach if we choose ownership and act together. Happy Independence Day, Nigeria at 65!
God bless Nigeria”.
